New Year was seen in by all five of us awake, I think all the fireworks woke Abi up, we watched the local ones from the bedroom balcony, once again it was a superb show, I love New Years Eve, I really appreciate it being warm and being able to party outside. Today is reasonably quite, late night revellers sleeping off their hangovers but only if they can stand the heat.
We are experiencing the hottest weather this summer for years apparently, earlier I went over to the garage and walking accross the park that seperates our house and it, I could smell hay, but no hay had been cut it was the smell of the grass turning into hay where it grew. The only green areas are in the gardens of people who water their lawns. I did consider buying the girls an icecream but thought It would be melted by the time I get back. Our lounge is like a little sanctury at the moment, we have both an air conditioner (very old and 3rd hand) and a water cooler/evaporator going the thermomator on the fridge says its 34 in here and this feels cool to upstairs and outside. I went outside to put the duvets out to air, the soles of my feet burnt.
I spoke to my mum this morning, she says its so cold over there that one day didnt get above minus 7. Such extremes of weather when its this hot its hard to imagine it being so cold. In some ways thought I miss the beauty of a frost on a winters morning especially when its like this.
I hope you all had a good Christmas, my highlights where.....
The 'pressy' I got from Abi that the nursery made (a star with her picci and handprint on.
Speaking to my best mate on Christmas Eve and talking to her son whose birthday it was, and him telling my he loved me.
The pressy that the girls bought me with their own pocket money
Seeing my brother on webcam, he called at my dads when he was chatting on cam to me, I havnt seen my brother for neary 4 years, it was sooo good to see him.
My sis-in-law announcing she was pregnant again, that one was a shock!
It was a really relaxing day on Christmas day, I really enjoyed it.
Every New Years Day I think back over the year and work out my Highlight and Lowlights, last years was easy...
the best bit was giving birth to Abi, she is a demanding child but worth it.
the worst was my boss and his wife getting killed in the Bali bomb. Think that says it all.
Hope you all have a great 2006!
xx
