Just click your heels and say "Theres no place like home'

My dad is pc illiterate, well to be honest illiterate is an understatement. It took him a few weeks to learn how to switch it off, never mind using it for anything else. He has no idea what a program is, and went onto broadband cos he thought it would speed up his pc. Its not his fault though, he only used one for the first time a few months ago and due to various illnesses he finds it hard to retain information. However today he managed to not only activate his web cam but to do a video conference with me.

I am so proud of him but what is even better is that I saw him on cam, I nearly cryed. Its about 11 months since he last visited us and to be honest I dont think he will make that journey again, after all its a bloody long way from the UK, and I cant see us going there anytime in the near future. The other great thing about the cam is hes now seen Abi, I know photos are good but its not the same as seeing someone, I could tell how much he loved seeing the kids on cam, you could hear it in his voice. I was a bit apprehensive about doing a vid conference at first mainly because last time I used MSN for that it kept freezing and crashing my pc, but this latest version seemed to be quite stable.

I really must try and persuade my mum to get a pc now. I so miss her too and to see her on cam would be pretty darn good.

Also last night I chatted to my oldest friend, (shes the person I have known the longest not that shes the oldest person I know) we first met when we where 3years old, so thats ermm a couple or so years ago. We did a voice and vid chat too, in fact we chatted for ages, normally I am in bed by 10pm at the latest, but last night it was past 11pm, gosh I did feel like a rebel.... The good thing about her is even if we dont speak for months even years when we do, its like it was only 5mins ago since we last spoke, Thats a true friend I reckon.

I know a lot of my mates in the uk read this blog, to be honest its the reason I set it up, so that I could ramble on and they could find out what I was up to, I figured it was easier than emails. I just want to let you all know I miss you like hell at the mo, think I'm homesick.
